San Diego Credit Union Building Installs Sam Ballard “Spirit” Sculpture
SAN DIEGO, CA — On May 14 the San Diego County Credit Union Building in the North Park welcomed the installation of a copy of the “Spirit” sculpture by artist Sam Ballard. The North Park Fire Department’s Ladder 14 installed the art piece upon the building’s flagpole at 9 a.m. where the eagle sculpture now flies.
The original “Spirit” sculpture was commissioned by the Louse Bank of Commerce, located on 5th Avenue in San Diego, in 2000. Since the original installation, copies of “Spirit” have been installed in two locations in Auburn, Ca. and now again in San Diego’s North Park.
“I am both honored and proud to have ‘Spirit’ come home to San Diego,” Ballard said. “My gratitude to Pat Cowan, San Diego County Credit Union, North Park Ladder 14 Fire Department and Angela Landsberg.”
Ballard will also be participating in the North Park Festival of the Arts, which is sponsored by San Diego County Credit Union. The event takes place on May 17 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
